Guest Guide

The kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, hob, microwave and dishwasher — please feel free to use all of them. Full instruction manuals are kept in the bottom drawer to the right of the ovens.

To operate the gas hob, turn the button to the chosen ring and press down until the gas ignites. Please use the extractor fan (above the hob) whenever you're cooking.

• Quick start: press Stop/Start and the 'Hand' button.
• Set temperature: hold °C for ~2 seconds until the figure flashes, adjust with + / −, confirm with °C.
• Programmed cooking: choose mode/temperature, press the cooking-time (hourglass) symbol, set minutes with + / −. It confirms automatically after a few seconds.
• Delay end-of-cooking: after setting cooking time, press the end-of-cooking symbol and adjust to your desired finish time.
• Separate timer: press the hourglass symbol, set time with + / −; it counts down independently of the oven.
• Child lock: hold Start/Stop until it bleeps and a key symbol appears; repeat to unlock.

• Turn the program selector to your chosen mode (e.g. conventional cooking) and the thermostat dial to the recommended temperature.
• Grill: turn the selector to the grill zone and thermostat to the grill position — power is variable from 20–100%. Best for cakes, buns, toasted sandwiches and browning dishes (the oven walls are standard enamel, so avoid greasy dishes).

• Cook: press Power to choose level (P100 down to P10), turn the dial to set time, press Start.
• Quick start: press Start/+1MIN for one minute of full-power cooking (repeatable up to 95 minutes).
• Defrost by weight: press Weight Defrost, dial in weight (100–2000g), press Start.
• Defrost by time: press Time Defrost, dial in time (up to 95 min), press Start.

• Press the left-hand circular symbol to turn the machine on.
• Press the − symbol repeatedly to reach Quick Wash, then press Start (right-hand button).
• Symbols: S = salt, big star = rinse aid.

Dishwasher tablets and kitchen cleaning items are in the cupboard under the sink, along with a dustpan and brush. The vacuum cleaner is in the tall cupboard in the utility room.

There are three bins in the kitchen:

• Green lid — recycling: clean paper/cardboard
• Blue lid — items that cannot be recycled
• Red lid — glass

Havant council doesn't run a glass collection — take glass to a car park recycling point (e.g. the beachfront car park on Southbourne Road, top of Creek Road) or leave it next to the wheelie bins.

Outdoor bins are on the driveway. Collection day is Monday — please put the bins at the edge of the driveway ready for collection. Black lid = general waste, green lid = recycling, alternating weekly (check the neighbours' bins if unsure which week).

Please leave balcony and patio door keys in their locks so they don't get lost. The upper balcony light switch is on the wall behind the TV; the patio light switch is behind the curtain on the left in the Master Bedroom — please turn these off at night.

At the end of the garden there's a 5–6ft drop onto the beach beyond the shingle bed. The area beyond the garden becomes very muddy after about 3m, then sinking sand. You're welcome to take the kayak out if you have life jackets and are experienced — check tide times and the forecast first; water pollution is higher on an outgoing tide.

A retractable double line is attached to the house by the spiral staircase and can extend to the small building opposite. Pegs are in the utility room.

There's a toilet and sink in the building opposite the utility room door.

Each hut's electrics are operated separately — three switches: two for the heaters (on hourly timer switches) and one for the heater light. Fairy lights plug into the socket in the hut nearest the house — please switch off when you leave.

Blind straps: to fasten, the elastic goes round the back of the wooden struts, through the eyelet, over the black ball. Please drop and fasten the hut blinds at night or if raining, to keep birds and foxes out and stay dry.

An electric barbecue is stored in the utility room — plug it in by the window/worktop, then use outside on the patio or near The Huts. Wooden plates are in the kitchen cupboards, and a kettle for tea and coffee is in the utility room.
